1957 Olympia SM3

*** in Maroon.

In the fifties Olympia had the SG (desktop), the SM (portable), and the SF (flat 'ultraportable' models).

The SM are my favorite. Their precision engineering rivals any other machine.  One could almost say they were over engineered.
The rubber bushings are worn away on many of them and those need to be replaced or the alignment will not work. Other than that they don't really have any weak links.

For a while I dabbled in ultra portables as the only writing option.  Somehow they are just a little too cramped feeling for me.   For what I gain and portability I lose in the writing experience.

That being said I lugged a Groma Kolibri across #thepyrannees in 2016.  It is heavier than a butterfly.

And thank you for those of you that sent me pictures of you with your writing machine. You can also post him on here and tag me. I love to see what you are up to.

*** This machine one is on its way to Tennessee today.
