1940’s Remington Noiseless Typewriter

1940's Remington Noiseless model 7.

They were pretty loose with the model naming. The identical Underwood says Model 77.

There are a few other variants as well.

These are excellent machines. One client is working on typing out his graphic novels on one now.

They are slightly lower quality than their earlier gloss counterparts. For instance they have a plastic ribbon spool cover instead of the metal. And the carriage knobs are hollow.

That being said, they generally have rubber that is in much better condition. They are newer, yes, but also the 'rubber' formula seems different. It has less of a tendency to melt away or crumble into dust. The better softer rubber also makes them quieter.
